Immersive Emotions at a Glance

"HyperAdventures" : 5 Worlds at Hand

"HyperAdventures" enables the visitor, without any equipment, to travel through different spaces with simple hand movements. Those spaces are either fictional (3D composed scenes) or documentary (based on photographs or video).

Immerged within a virtual corridor, the visitor may choose from a series of "thematic doors". Gently "touching" them with his/her hand will carry him/her into an environment composed of panoramic or spherical views which he/she will explore by having them move around him/her. Certain spots of those views invite him/her to pause and discover other scenes.

"HyperAdventures demonstrate the capabilities of our system and is intended as an informal reference to the movie 'The Matrix' ", says Alok Nandi, Artistic Director. "Indeed, the setup allows one to move from the cockpit of an helicopter in a 3D world to the gallery of a gold mine as simply as picking up a virtual... phone", Nandi adds.

For an internet version of the panoramic views in the installation:

  • a city in 3D images
  • a scientific parc/museum
  • a ride in a mine

This installation combines design approaches, images and/or photographies by T. Allender, L. Beckers, B. Jadinon, C. Clarey, L. Letellier, A. Nandi and the technical development is done by D. Douxchamps, D. Ergo, X. Marichal, T. Umeda, X. Wielemans. A special thanks to B. Sokal for the images used in R&D from the "Amerzone" video game.
